The SWCAA are petitioning the Government to make it compulsory for Local Authorities and Developers to provide land for allotments or community gardens when developing a new area.  We need as many people as possible to sign this petition as something needs to be done about the serious lack of allotment sites which is affecting the whole of the country. The petition closed on the 2nd August with a total 2,353 signatures. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to sign it, we are now awaiting the Governments response.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to sign our petition for more allotments.  The government has posted a reply, you can view it here http://www.number10.gov.uk/Page16920
As pretty much expected it doesn't address the issue but is a long winded explanation which tells us what we already know.

It would seem we have a long way to go in getting the Government to take this matter seriously but we will persuing this further.  If anybody has any comments on the outcome of the petition, please let us know.
