It seems the EU are not only content with banning heritage seeds and other products, they are now turning their eyes towards organic pest control.

The organic gardeners favourite, Derris Dust and Liquid Derris is to be withdrawn from the market some time in the new year because of health scares. Apparently the dust and liquid can be dangerous if consumed! I expect it can, but surely the same can be said of bleach and scouring powder. Perhaps the EU feels we gardeners might be tempted to snort Derris Dust at wild allotment barbecues?

Buy the derris while you still can, and we had better use those dangerous garden tools such as forks, spades and secateurs with caution - a spate of accidents might result in these being banned as well!

EU Derris Ban (amy many other useful drssings too)

I contacted my EU  Parliament members (easy to do on www.writetothem.com, or indeed easy to contact your Councillor or MP on that site as well) and got only fuddled sympathy.  I have just purchased a stock ahead of any ban that might happen (you have to conceal it I imagine)

Does anyone know how we could arrange importation of all these banned useful items from non-EU areas (Switzerland? Norway? Hong Kong?) for use by Friends?  There are cheap tobacco sites, so what about these more important items?
